Hi there, You can add 1.5 cups of coffee per gallon of water. This is a recommended amount but coffee strength can be adjusted to personal taste by adding or subtracting from that quantity.

Does this model Zulay Kitchen1000160 coffee urn need a paper filter? The basket looks fine but I'm getting coffee grains in the coffee.
Hi there, It doesn't need a paper filter. However, it's recommended to wet bottom coffee basket to prevent grounds from filtering into brewed coffee.
