Homemade Caffè latte

Homemade Caffè latte - Zulay Kitchen

Caffè latte is often abbreviated as latte is a coffee drink of Italian origin made with espresso and milk. The term comes from the Italian caffellatte or caffè latte, from caffè e latte, literally "coffee and milk".
In Italy, caffè latte is almost always prepared at home, for breakfast only. The coffee is brewed with a stovetosp moka pot and poured into a cup containing heated milk.

Preparation

  • Add warm or hot water to the lower chamber and fill it to just below the safety valve. Filtered water is best, as we want to extract the flavours from the coffee bean, not the elements from our water supply.
  • Fill the filter basket with your freshly ground coffee powder. Apply gentle pressure and level the coffee in the basket.
  • Place the filter basket in the lower chamber and screw on the top compartment.
  • Place on medium heat over an electric hot plate or a gas stove.
  • Once you hear a gurgling noise, it means all the water has passed into the top chamber. You need to stop the heat as soon as possible, as the longer coffee stays hot, the more bitter it becomes.
  • Heat the milk in advance and add it to a container large enough to swirl and have room for the froth to "grow".
Pour approximately one-quarter cup of milk into the container you are going to use to froth the milk.
    •  Insert the milk frother into the milk. Turn it on.  Move the milk frother slowly and move it up and down gently, but avoid rapid movements.
    • Pour warm frothed milk into your latte cup and then add your espresso.
    • Enjoy your Caffè latte!
